I loved the direction the author took. Smaller chunks of time, from the point of view of the Tudor who was relevant. However, Catherine Howard being blackmailed by Culpepper? Edward NOT wanting to change succession? I like my historical fiction to contain correct history. Couldn't finish it, things were just too wrong!

Tudor Queen Tudor Crown edition by Jennifer Peter Woods Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Quite an interesting concept that gave a bit further insight into Mary Tudor. However one never really understood from the book how and why she morphed into "Bloody Mary". The constant flitting between quite a variety of different narrators made it a bit confused and so it was hard to get Mary Tudor's viewpoint. Obviously Elizabeth fet very differently than Mary about many things. Whoever edited this book did a very poor job as it was full of spelling and grammatical errors which were annoying.
It was a welcome change to read so many character portrayals and see them sewn together in a new way with history. A nice addition to a much told storyline.
Easy sentence structure, but with illustrious illustrations and turns of phrase that make it flow.
I enjoyed this book well enough to not regret spending $3.99 on it, but it was a close thing. The editing is awful, as others have said before-- the tense changes mid sentence and mid paragraph made it really difficult to get into the flow of the story, so it felt more like work than like pleasure to get through the book. Also, it was a minor issue for me, but there were a couple issues of historical accuracy. I'm all for writers getting an amount of creative license, and I tend to read historical fiction as fiction, not history, so it didn't bother me as much as it may bother others. If you like your historical fiction well researched and rigidly adhering to fact, this is not going to be a great book for you.
I almost want to give this book three stars, because it was entertaining and not poorly written, but the fact that it was so poorly edited makes me knock it down to two stars.
the idea to tell the story from many viewpoints is intriguing but it's hard to cipher through since the author switches between past and present tense so often and even I. the same sentence. the author chose to skip over multiple important events which lends a completely different tone to the book but also robs the reader of important contradicted flaws and details that help us understand why they were they way they were. this book could have gone so much farther in terms of quality.
This book gives Queen Mary a bit more humanity. You can emphasize with her chronic physical ailments, the tortured relationship with her father, and being unable to visit her dying mother. This does not negate from the horror and suffering she caused her subjects in the name of religion.
I loved this book . It showed me a side of Mary Tudor 1 I had not been able to grasp from others . She was made real each feeling of each triumph and each failure so real you could not help but understand Mary as never before, believe me I have read plenty books re the Tudors , Mary Tudor from the time I was 13 to 64 and this is the first to make her come alive to me bravo
The narrative was a bit choppy in places, but it certainly proposed some interesting interpretations of what could have been stale ground. The author's voice rang true with some of the characters, and you could feel the realism - others, most noticeably Lady Jane Grey, were dealt with in short shrift. I would definitely read more of this author.
I loved the direction the author took. Smaller chunks of time, from the point of view of the Tudor who was relevant. However, Catherine Howard being blackmailed by Culpepper?
